Bolasie blown away by Coleman in first half of Everton v Brighton
Yannick Bolasie was blown away by the pace that Seamus Coleman showed during an attack in the first half of Everton versus Brighton on Monday.
It was a rather dismal first-half display by the Blues at the AMEX but they did have one bright attacking opportunity when Coleman, 32, burst forward down the right.
The Irish full-back managed to get a cross in for Tom Davies but the midfielder couldn’t help but head the ball well wide of the Brighton goal.
Bolasie, who’s on loan at Middlesbrough from Everton, took to his personal Twitter account to react to the attacking phase and raved about Coleman’s pace.
“Seamus got his jet pack on today,” he said.
Snoozest
We wish we could be as optimistic and excited by the first half as Bolasie seemingly is because that was dire.
Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of injury issues plaguing his squad at the moment but the first-half performance versus Brighton Monday was a drab affair.
Brighton probably had better chances than we did, looking way more impressive than the Toffees with some fluid attacks.
We would have even cheered if Yves Bissouma’s attempt to score via a bicycle kick beat Robin Olsen because it would have given us a bit of excitement.
Hopefully Ancelotti can get some fire into the players’ bellies at half time because there’s simply nothing about them at the moment.
Richarlison is feeding off of scraps, James Rodriguez and Gylfi Sigurdsson are creating nothing and Davies is just, well, being Davies in the midfield.
It’s really not good and our hopes of European qualification are disappearing fast.
