Karen Carney noticed an unhappy looking Ancelotti pacing on touchline v Brighton

Carlo Ancelotti looked a troubled man as his Everton side succumbed to another draw against Brighton, according to BBC pundit Karen Carney.

Everton were dire in the first half at the Amex and failed to complete a single shot on target, per Squawka.

The Toffees lacked creativity and an attacking edge that was also the cause of their downfall against Crystal Palace, and Carney noticed Ancelotti was agitated as a result.

On BBC Radio 5 Live, she said, “Carlo Ancelotti does not look happy with his side. He is pacing.”

Big response needed

Ancelotti may have been stressed about our first-half performance – and who can blame him – but he showed signs of optimism with his comments after the match.

Despite criticising our quality, the Italian praised his players’ attitude and is confident of achieving success this term.

As quoted by the BBC, he said, “I think the attitude of the team was good, the quality of the play was not so good.

“The attitude and the spirit was good. We defended well, we tried to build up from the back, but we had difficulty creating chances.

“We never talked about the top four. The target is to reach Europe and we are still there.”

If we are to qualify for Europe things need to change, and quickly.

We have just one win in six games and have scored only three goals in that period, so something is clearly wrong.

It is hard to pinpoint the exact issues, which is worrying, but there does need to be more intensity and more pace in our play.

Everton have made big strides this year and picked up very good results, it would be a shame to throw away our progress in the final few games.
