Gbamin receives positive injury news as surgery isn’t required
Everton have received positive news regarding Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s latest injury with Sky Sports reporting that the midfielder won’t need surgery.
The Ivory Coast international made his return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace last week following 597 days out injured, however he wasn’t available to face Brighton on Monday.
The 25-year old sustained medial collateral ligament damage in training prior to facing the Seagulls, a freak injury that doesn’t relate to his previous issues, and Everton had feared that he could be out for a significant amount of time.
However after undergoing scans it has been revealed that the damage doesn’t require surgery, meaning that while Gbamin will miss the remainder of the season his lay-off isn’t expected to be as long as initially feared.
Gbamin is now set to undergo the rehabilitation process at USM Finch Farm with Everton hopeful to have him back available in the not so distant future.
Huge positive
More than just for Everton but also for Gbamin’s personal emotional wellbeing, this is massive news for all involved.
Gbamin’s freak injury had looked to be a nightmare scenario. The 25-year old had worked hard to finally recover and then just days after making his return an unreleased injury would ruin his Everton career once more.
Obviously the Ivorian is still set to spend some time on the sidelines, regardless of the fact that he doesn’t need surgery, but the information remains positive. Gbamin hopefully won’t be out for nearly as long as we had feared and that will help him massively.
Everton know how to handle Gbamin at this point given how long he was previously unavailable for so we have no doubt that he’ll get the best care as he recovers.
Hopefully he doesn’t suffer any further set-backs and he can be back out in royal blue in the not so distant future.
