Kevin Campbell predicts Everton will lose in clash v Tottenham

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell predicts another Premier League defeat for Everton when they face Tottenham at Goodison Park tonight.

The Blues will be hoping to get back to winning ways after four games in the league without victory, while Spurs too have gone two games without success.

Everton welcome back a host of injured players including Jordan Pickford and Allan, though they will still be without lead goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News ahead of the game, Campbell said: “I can tell you now if they play like that against Tottenham, Tottenham will win.

“You have to have a threat against teams and I cannot remember Richarlison having a shot at goal [against Brighton], or having a really good opportunity. He just didn’t, and he was the Number 9.

“Unless Everton can really create something for him they’ve got no chance. That’s what they’ve got to do, they’ve got to play a lot better and they’ve got to play with a lot more energy.

“Most importantly though they’ve got to play with a lot more quality in the final third. If you don’t have quality in the final third you are not going to win.”

Campbell also gave his thoughts on what a score might be, with the former Everton goalscorer not having much faith in the Toffees.

Campbell added: “I think Everton are going to lose if I’m honest. I think Spurs are going to win 2-1. Spurs have got the threat at the top end of the pitch, that’s for sure.”

Everton will understandably face a stern test of their resolve against Tottenham, with Jose Mourinho’s side dangerous despite their recent dip in form.

Carlo Ancelotti will demand consistency in front of goal but he’ll also need to ensure his backline is as resolute as can be to counteract Spurs’ ability going forward.

It’ll be a tough game for the Blues but if they wish to keep their European dreams alive it is a game that they must get a result from.
