Mark Lawrenson predicts winner in Everton clash v Spurs

Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham to leave Everton with all three points in their Premier League clash this evening.

The BBC pundit has predicted that Spurs will win 2-1 at Goodison Park, with the Toffees faltering in recent weeks.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have struggled aganist Crystal Palace and Brighton, only picking up two points when wins were needed at this stage of the campaign.

Writing in his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson believes that Spurs have the attacking firepower to make the difference this evening.

“Both of these sides have lost a bit of ground recently in the top-four race,” he said.

“While I don’t think Everton will make it, Tottenham still have an outside chance – but Spurs are going to have to win games like this to stay in the frame.

“Normally I would fancy Everton to come out on top in a game like this at Goodison Park but their form there has been really poor recently.

“Tottenham have lost their way a little of late too, and they look far from solid at the back. They do have the firepower of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, though, and they might make the difference here.”

Uphill battle.

The likes of Allan may be returning to the fold for Everton, but they will be without some serious firepower in the final third.

In a game against the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, you need to take your chances when you get them, so Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing is a big loss.

The England international’s ability to hold up the ball would have been a real weapon, but instead, that falls on the shoulders of Richarlison.

Spurs were shocking against Manchester United after they initally went ahead, and the Toffees need to exploit their weaknesses.
