Report: Fenerbahce interested in Everton defender Yerry Mina
Everton key player Yerry Mina is subject to transfer interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who are exploring the possibility of signing the Colombian on loan, according to Turkiye.
According to the report, Everton are not ready to consider a loan move for the player whose contract runs out in 2023.
The club have reportedly set an asking price of between £17.1m and £21.4m for the 26-year-old and are open to the idea of him leaving at the end of the season. [TuttoMercatoWeb]
Mina is one of the mainstays in Carlo Ancelotti’s team and is understood to be regarded highly by the club.
Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has also raved about the Everton defender.
When asked about Mina being a beast at the back and forming a promising partnership with Holgate, Bent said, “Yeah he is at the minute and I like that.
“They’re good players, they can work together, they’re both powerful, they’re both good on the ball.”
Big money off the payroll
Mina has been inconsistent but unless Everton are planning a big move at the back, it doesn’t make any sense to ship him out on loan.
The price quoted for him is also below the price we paid for the Colombian international, so that doesn’t really add up either.
However, Mina has been susceptible to making mistakes that can cost us.
If the interest from Fenerbahce is genuine, and they’re willing to sign him on a permanent deal and pay the money we want, we should consider offloading him.
Especially if we are seriously considering the prospect of signing Kalidou Koulibaly.
Koulibaly’s unlikely to come on small wages, and the majority of fans along with the manager would rather have the Napoli stalwart at the club than Mina.
