Galatasary want to sign Everton forward Joshua King

Galatasary are interested in signing Everton forward Joshua King according to Turkish outlet Fotomac.

The Turks are also keen on Watford’s Joao Pedro but view King as an alternative option should they not land the Brazilian.

King’s contract expires in the summer and he is yet to start a league match since signing in January, so Carlo Ancelotti may be open to him leaving.

The Italian has said that King is “doing well” but the club is not ready to discuss his future due to the focus on qualifying for Europe [Liverpool Echo].

However, according to The Athletic [01/04] King is one of a number of Toffees who could depart in the summer.

A gamble that didn’t pay off

Beating several rivals to sign King in January seemed like great business at the time.

It has not worked out how many would have liked but it was certainly worth the risk in order to provide competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.

King does possess some good qualities, but we simply do not play in a way that suits him and have not made the most of his exceptional pace.

In 2016/17, King was clocked as the 20th fastest Premier League player with a speed of 34.61 km/h [The Telegraph].

To put that into perspective, only two Toffees players have recorded higher speeds this year – Ben Godfrey [35.45 km/h] and Calvert-Lewin [35.12 km/h], per the Premier League.

King has attempted to display his attacking drive on the ball too.

The Norweigan has completed 2.9 successful dribbles per game [WyScout] because of that, and it is a little surprising Ancelotti has not played him more often.

If King is not going to be a part of Ancelotti’s plans then there is little point in keeping him at Goodison, particularly as financial fair play rules mean departures are necessary.
