Lucas Digne was the stand out star for Everton vs Tottenham

Lucas Digne has been one of the most consistent players this year and he was key for Everton in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored twice and James Rodriguez was a threat going forward with a SofaScore rating of 8.0, but Digne was brilliant on the left.

He had to deal with the onrushing Serge Aurier throughout the game but he kept both him and Moussa Sissoko quiet on the right flank.

Everton

The Frenchman has six assists this term and undoubtedly works better with Dominic Calvert-Lewin to aim for, but Spurs were clearly intent on stopping him from getting forward.

He only managed one successful dribble and one attempted cross [SofaScore], mainly because he was being tightly marked.

That allowed Rodriguez and Sigurdsson more space, and that culminated in our goals – the former being fouled for the penalty.

Digne was even impressive in defence and made five clearances throughout the match.

The left-back also won five out of five ground duels and six out of seven aerial duels – so won an incredible 91% of his duels overall.

That is very impressive, and shows the desire Digne possesses as well as his ability to win back the ball.

No Toffees players won more duels which shows how effective he was, and it is little surprise Spurs did not create much outside the two goals – both of which were slightly fortunate.

Ben Godfrey also deserves to be highlighted for another resolute display – he made seven clearances in total – and like Digne has been one of our best players this season.

Carlo Ancelotti now seems to have the defence working as an organised unit and but for a rare mistake from Michael Keane, we would have won 2-1 on Friday.

Cutting out individual errors is vital to qualifying for the Champions League, but in Digne, we certainly have one of the best full-backs in the division.
