Gary Neville wants Everton to beat Arsenal on Friday night

Gary Neville has not shied away from showing his disgust and anger towards the formation of the European Super League.

Everton have hit out at the idea in an explosive statement from the board while at least 99 per cent of fans appear to be against it.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham are the six Premier League clubs who claim to be founding members of the ESL.

However, it’s pretty clear where Neville’s allegiances lie ahead of upcoming fixtures that will be broadcast on Sky Sports.

At the end of Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football this week, presenter Dave Jones read out the rest of the matches that will be aired in the coming days and funnily enough all of them include ESL clubs.

Neville replied by saying: “Come on Brighton. Come on Southampton. Come on Villa. Come on Everton.”

Everyone is the other 14

We feel a bit for the six clubs who are involved in the ESL because at the end of the day, this decision hasn’t been made by their fans, players or managers. They’ve been made by the owners.

Our owners are clearly against the idea. The ESL is just a rotten project anyway – how would it be any good?

It serves one purpose – to make the rich richer. Would it be good entertainment? No. Would it benefit football as a whole? Absolutely not.

We’re glad our owners are anti-ESL and we implore fans of all clubs – including the six in the ESL – to protest against it.

It’s rotten. It’s anti-football. It will kill the game that we love and these owners don’t realise that because they don’t love the sport, they don’t care about it. All they care about is lining their own pockets.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have already caused some damage on one of the ESL breakaway clubs.
