Juventus name price for Everton target Demiral

Juventus have named their price for central defender and Everton target Merih Demiral ahead of the summer transfer window.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported last week that Demiral was one of four players Juventus would be prepared to use in a player-plus-cash deal for desired summer target Moise Kean.

Juve would also consider Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey or Federico Bernardeschi, with Everton preferring either Rabiot or Demiral as they to bolster their options.

Now CalcioMercato claim that the Turin giants have named their price for Demiral this summer, with the Serie A defending champions wanting £34.5million (€40million) for the defender.

The Turkey international was formerly considered ‘untransferable’ by the Italian outfit but that is no longer believed to be the case.

The 23-year old is also said to be of interest to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, while CalcioMercato claim that Juventus will only consider selling him this summer, and not loaning him.

No thanks

Should Juventus stick to their asking price for Demiral, Everton should absolutely not consider moving for the Turkey international.

First of all, Everton have four capable centre-backs who currently play regularly for the club. The Toffees need to strengthen in a number of positions when the summer transfer window opens and centre-back shouldn’t be a priority if resources are limited.

Everton need to find a new right-back and a right sided winger, while a central midfielder, a goalkeeper and a striker would also be ideal. Centre-back should not be an important position to fill, and certainly not for the inflated price tag that Demiral carries.

Juventus are said to be keen to sign Moise Kean and if they do push for that move then Demiral could potentially arrive as part of that arrangement, and that would be fine so long as Everton are still financially rewarded. They simple mustn’t accept a straight swap.

Often praises and previously described as a ‘natural leader‘, Demiral is by no means a player that Everton shouldn’t want, but the club’s priorities lie elsewhere.
