View: Everton should move with haste to sign Norwich defender Aarons
Everton are after a number of players in the summer transfer window and their pursuit of a new right-back hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The Athletic reported in March that the Blues were keen on a right-sided defender, while the Liverpool Echo have since reiterated those plans.
Jonjoe Kenny doesn’t appear to have a future as an Everton player, while Mason Holgate is clearly not seen as the answer to play full-back in the long-run.
Everton have been linked with a number of full-backs over the past few months, but none more so than Norwich’s Max Aarons, who has attracted plenty of attention over the years.
Aarons was a regular for Norwich when they last in the Premier League, as was his former teammate and now Everton defender Ben Godfrey, however Aarons remained at Carrow Road when they dropped inot the Championship.
Now however Norwich’s promotion to the Premier League has been confirmed, leaving Aarons’ future unclear.
Norwich have already conceded that Aarons will leave Carrow Road in the near future, describing him as someone who can become one of the world’s “top footballers”.
As the summer transfer window continues to approach and more and more clubs begin identifying what they need in the transfer market, Everton’s chances at landing Aarons become more and more slim.
The Toffees are aware of the Canaries’ £30million asking price, they are aware that Aarons is ‘keen’ on a Goodison Park switch, and they are aware that they need to reinforce that position.
Now that Norwich are up and ready to beginning preparing for a tough year ahead, it would be the best move for all parties if Everton begin to preparations to launch an offer as soon as they are able to in order to ensure that the move occurs without a hitch.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have already caused some damage on one of the ESL breakaway clubs.
