Daniel Farke advises Max Aarons to stay at Norwich amid Everton interest

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has advised Max Aarons to remain at Carrow Road next season, despite increasing reports of interest from Everton.

Sky Sports correspondent Fabrizio Romano tweeted earlier this week that the Blues hoped to conclude negotiations with the Canaries soon, with Aarons set to leave East Anglia this summer.

The 21-year has been ever-present for Farke’s side in the Championship this season, with Norwich having already secured promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking to Pink Un prior to Norwich’s game against QPR on Saturday, Farke responded to recent speculation by suggesting Aarons would be better off remaining at Carrow Road.

Farke said: “From our side there is no intention to do anything. He [Aarons] is one of our best players, a key player for our success. Why should we send him away?

“He will play in the best league in the world next season and he has a good chance to play many, many minutes. A great chance for him and us to shine on the top level.

“In the end, it makes no sense to move to a club in Germany or Spain who play for position 10 in the table or right here a team in England playing for position 14. My gut feeling is it makes no sense at his age to move somewhere where he is a back up.

“For me, he has the potential and quality to play for the best clubs in the world. Either a top club in England or a top four club in Germany or Spain.

“Then if one of those said to us, we want to sign Max Aarons and he will be our future at right full-back for the next five seasons and he will play an important role,’ then I am quite sure it would be a good move for him and the next step.

“If the right club comes with the right offer then a solution can be found. But there are no talks, nothing in the background. Let’s see how it develops.”

Natural next step

With the best of respect to Daniel Farke, we feel that Everton fit into the latter category that he describes.

Everton aren’t currently a top team, and they currently don’t have Champions League football to further boost their profile, but it is certainly where the club want to be in a few years time.

Carlo Ancelotti is driving the Blues forward and signing a new right-back is part of that plan. Though Seamus Coleman would still remain a useful player to the club, Everton’s pursuit of a right-back would see them sign someone who would start most games.

Should Aarons come to Everton he would play regularly for a side who are on the verge of qualifying for Europe, and who possess the ambition to play in the Champions League in the near future.

The Toffees are far from being a team that fights for 14th, and we feel that Aarons, who Farke himself described as “outstanding“, would be making the next logical career step by moving to Merseyside.

He’d likely find as much joy at Goodison Park as he would trying to prevent Norwich from once again falling to relegation.
