Bundesliga expert praises Everton target Wamangituka
Bundesliga expert and Get German Football News editor Daniel Pinder has showered praise on reported Everton target and Stuttgart star Silas Wamangituka.
The Toffees were credited with an interest in the 21-year old early last month by Eurosport, with Fulham also said to be in the race for the 11-goal wide midfielder.
Unfortunately, the DR Congo wide man saw his season cut short soon after, after having suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage against Bayern Munich.
Talking exclusively to This Is Futbol, Pinder waxed lyrical about the injured star, though he conceded that his recent ACL injury will likely have dashed his hopes of securing a summer move.
Pinder said: “Silas Wamangituka is a player that I like a lot, he’s probably one of my favourite players in the Bundesliga at the minute.
“He’s very unique, for Stuttgart he plays right wing-back in a 3-4-2-1 formation. In that position he’s scored 11 goals and created five in 25 games, so I think those stats alone for a right wing-back, it’s unheard of.
“Unfortunately, he picked up a ligament injury against Bayern last month and he’s out for the season now, which could affect a summer transfer.”
Interest won’t wane
Described by Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo as an ‘incredible talent‘ earlier this season, Wamangituka really burst onto the German scene with some excellent performances earlier in the campaign.
Wamangituka had received so many rave reviews that he seemed destined to leave Stuttgart in the summer, but an unfortunate injury has set him back in a devastating way.
However that isn’t to say that a club like Everton couldn’t still look to sign the winger in the future.
Everton are keen on signing a right-sided winger this summer, and with Wamangituka on the medical table it seems as though we’ll need to look elsewhere.
However if the young star is able to recover well and get back to the same level he was at before his injury, there is no doubting that he’ll have a list of potential suitors.
Marcel Brands wants to sign players for Everton that are young enough to grow and develop on Merseyside while also experienced enough to offer something immediately, and Wamangituka isn’t likely to fall off his radar just because of one injury.
In other Everton news, the Toffees want to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder who is admired by a former Everton star.
