Juventus willing to sell Everton target Rabiot due to underwhelming performance
Juventus are willing to sell Everton target Adrien Rabiot this summer because of his underwhelming performance levels, according to a report from Italy.
The Toffees have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 26-year old over the course of the past few months, with Carlo Ancelotti said to be especially keen on landing the Frenchman.
The Italian coach handed Rabiot his senior debut at Paris Saint-Germain, and after having already reunited with former players Allan and James Rodriguez at Everton, Ancelotti wants the Juventus star to join his squad.
Despite the fact that Rabiot has been a regular for Andrea Pirlo’s side this season, playing 29 times in Serie A, Juve are prepared to sell the former PSG man this summer.
That comes from TuttoSport, who claim that although only four players (Danilo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wojciech Szczesny and Rodrigo Bentancur) have played more minutes for Juve than Rabiot this season, the Frenchman’s performances offer ‘little substance’.
TuttoSport describe Rabiot’s performances this season as ‘never perfect but encouraging’, suggesting that Juve have now taken note of the benefits of selling the midfielder who they believe never crosses the 6/6.5 match rating mark.
Many different outcomes
There seems to be an awful lot of talk concerning the prospect of Everton and Juventus doing business this summer, and it’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds.
Everton’s interest in Rabiot could well be tied into their pursuit of defender Merih Demiral, or Juventus’ pursuit of Everton forward Moise Kean, so there are many different ways that this transfer saga could play out.
The Toffees need to bolster their options ahead of next season, especially if they end up qualifying for Europe, and securing the signing of Rabiot in reasonable time would allow them to best prepare for the new campaign.
Everton have on occasion been left extremely light in midfield this season, with a slew of injuries happening at the same time not helping manners, and Ancelotti undoubtedly needs to ensure that he doesn’t fall foul to the same issue next season by increasing his squad depth.
Rabiot would be a fine addition, not just to bolster the squad but also to improve the quality of the starting line-up, with the player’s spectacular trophy haul emblematic of his ability on the pitch.
If Ancelotti is to move for the midfielder this summer, we just hope that he does it soon.
