Marcus Bent claims Kean isn’t worth Everton price tag
Former Everton forward Marcus Bent doesn’t believe that Moise Kean is worth £40million amid interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The Italy international has enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell with PSG this season, with his impressive goal tally for the club seeing his stock rise this summer.
Kean doesn’t appear likely to return to Goodison Park ahead of the new campaign, with Everton said to be willing to sell the forward for around £43.4million (€50million).
Speaking to Football FanCast, Bent explained that he hasn’t seen enough of Kean to warrant someone spending that much money on securing his signature.
Bent said: “I think he’s looking for a new contract, but I’m not sure Everton are going to give it to him.
“He’s a good, skilful, young player, but for them to move him on it depends on the price tag.
“From what I’ve seen he’s not worth £40million, he’ll have to do a lot more to go for £40million, but the price tags on players nowadays are a lot!”
Kean’s performances this season have undeniably been aided by the fact that he plays alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for PSG, two of the most exciting players in world football, but it would be unfair to deny that he’s shown his own ability.
While at Everton, Kean was never able to settle into the rigorous and physical nature of Premier League football, but in France he has been able to acclimatise much easier.
Perhaps that comes down to the way PSG play, whether they play to Kean’s strengths whereas Everton might not have done, however he has certainly found an environment wherein he can better express himself.
Ultimately a player’s worth in the transfer market is whatever a club is willing to pay. Both PSG and Juventus, particularly the former, are flush with cash, meaning that they are able to spend bigger sums of money on players without it being seen as such a risk.
PSG want to keep Kean ahead of next season, especially with Mauro Icardi looking likely to return to Italy, and if Juventus shore up interest of their own it could quite easily spark a bidding war.
Kean’s performances might not show that he’s worth over £40million, but if he is to Juve and PSG then he certainly is to Everton.
