Ramsey would prefer Arsenal move despite Everton proposal
Aaron Ramsey would prefer a return to Arsenal over a move to Everton if he is to leave Juventus when the summer transfer window opens.
The Wales international midfielder joined the former Serie A champions in 2019 when his contract at the Emirates expired, amid heavy interest in his signature.
Everton were one of the clubs interested at the time and the Toffees have maintained that interest ever since his move to Turin.
According to a report from Il Bianco Nero, Ramsey understands that his days as a Juventus player are numbered, despite the fact that he has played 22 times in the league this season.
Il Bianco Nero claim Everton have submitted a ‘serious and intriguing’ proposal for Ramsey, however the Welshman would rather return to North London.
The report doesn’t mention any interest from Arsenal in the 30-year old, but it does imply that should they decide upon pursuing Ramsey that he would jump at the opportunity.
In with a chance
Though Il Bianco Nero’s report doesn’t make it sound as though Ramsey is overly enthused about the idea of joining Everton, that isn’t necessarily the case.
The report claims that a return to the Premier League is a priority for Ramsey this summer, with the midfielder still believing he has more to give in the English top flight. If Arsenal don’t register an interest in his services, Everton could be the next best thing.
On the cusp of European football and in the middle of a project build process under the stewardship of one of the most successful and respected working managers, Everton are an attractive prospect.
Ramsey isn’t likely to attract attention from those in the Champions League spots in the Premier League table, and if Arsenal don’t want him to return, there can’t be many more tempting proposals than that of Everton.
Do we want Ramsey to come to Everton though? At 30 he isn’t really at the right age, but Everton need depth, and if Ramsey were to replace someone like Fabian Delph the decision would surely be a no brainer.
It remains to be seen how Ancelotti views the summer transfer market, but if Ramsey is on the agenda he might not be the worst acquisition.
