Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is confident that he will be back fit and available to feature for the start of pre-season, as reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Ivory Coast international made his return to action for the Blues last month against Crystal Palace after having been sidelined by injury since August 2019.
However immediately after making his comeback the 25-year old was ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in training.
Fortunately Gbamin’s medial ligament damage didn’t require surgery, shortening the length of his recovery and giving the player the opportunity to be ready for pre-season this summer.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Gbamin still believes that he will be ready to kick-start his Everton career by the time that Carlo Ancelotti kicks off pre-season.
The former Mainz man is currently undergoing rehab at Finch Farm and has yet to discovery any unexpected hitches to his recovery plan.
Fingers crossed
Losing Gbamin to injury once again was a hammer blow for Everton, who had hoped that the Ivorian might have turned a corner, however the player has once again been made to wait.
Thankfully Gbamin himself has somehow kept his chin up, despite repeatedly seeing his body let him down, and we’re hopeful that he won’t suffer any further hiccups on the road to recovery.
Ancelotti has a big summer coming with Everton now looking at the glass ceiling just above them and wondering what it will take to break through it.
The Blues aren’t at the same level as those who are competing for the Champions League this season but there is no reason they can’t be in the near future, and strong recruitment will ultimately determine whether that fantasy becomes a reality.
Gbamin’s fitness does play a part in that with the Italian coach not keen to replace the midfielder. Ancelotti, as well as Gbamin and the Everton supporters want to see him back fit and playing, and we’re really hopeful that we’ll soon get to see that come to fruition.
