Everton seem favourites to sign Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee

Everton are likely to sign Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirzkee in the summer transfer window if Moise Kean joins Paris Saint-Germain, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

Zirkzee, 19, was linked with a move to Goodison in January before he ended up joining Italian club Parma on loan. However, they’ve since been relegated from Serie A and it is understood they are unlikely to trigger a £13million option-to-buy clause for the Dutch striker.

Although there’s also interest in Zirzkee from AC Milan, Juventus and Roma, it appears that Everton are most likely to win the race to sign the teenager from Bayern in the summer unless Kean doesn’t join PSG.

If that is the case, the Ligue 1 giants could welcome Zirzkee to Paris.

Serious injury to overcome first

Zirzkee’s loan spell at Parma has been a bad one.

Since joining them in January, he’s made just four appearances and didn’t manage to score any goals before a season-ending knee injury in April.

As quoted by BuliNews, Zirzkee’s injury required surgery and it is not known how long he’s going to be out for as he recovers.

It’s a massive shame for the young Dutchman but it shows that Everton are probably better off avoiding a deal to sign him.

While Carlo Ancelotti could do with another striker being signed in the summer, we just don’t think Zirzkee is the answer.

Yes, he’s young and has a promising future ahead of him – Joshua Kimmich called him “deadly” in front of goal – but it seems like it would be a bit of a risk to sign someone who’s recently had a serious knee injury, has just a handful of senior appearances to his name and is wanted by other clubs.

He’s wanted by a lot of big clubs so you would imagine that would bump up his price-tag from the £13million Parma could have paid if they stayed in Serie A.

Let’s see if Marcel Brands can find other targets.
