Report: Everton keen on signing Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Odriozola

Everton are reportedly keen on offering Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Odriozola a two-year loan deal this summer.

According to Fichajes.net, the Toffees want the player on loan for next season but are open to discussing the terms of the deal that could lead to them signing the player permanently at the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 25-year-old got his dream move a few seasons ago after he impressed at Real Sociedad, but things haven’t quite worked out for him at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He even moved to Bayern Munich on loan for a season, and despite winning the Champions League, couldn’t quite establish himself as a regular, which led to the German club not attempting to sign him permanently.

This season, back in the Spanish capital, he finds himself third in the Real Madrid pecking order behind Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez. Odriozola has only been given a chance when the two are unavailable, making him feel neglected.

Due to the lack of playing time, he has reportedly agreed to listen to Everton’s offer and also to AC Milan and Lyon, both of whom are also offering him an exit route out of Madrid.

Long-term Coleman replacement

Seamus Coleman, despite his age, is going strong and running up and down our right flank. The skipper has been Mr. Reliable for Carlo Ancelotti who is understood to be a fan of the player.

But, he’s not getting any younger and it’s now the ideal opportunity to find a replacement for the 32-year-old.

Odriozola is seven years his junior, has experience of playing in two big clubs, and has won a number of trophies at them. His winning experience will certainly rub off on our dressing room and could inspire some of the younger players in our team.

The Spain international could arrive at Goodison Park and share minutes with Coleman, before becoming our first choice in the 2022/23 season.

He certainly comes with a great reputation and we would be delighted to welcome him to Merseyside.
