Ancelotti confirms Everton don’t need to sell to make summer signings

Carlo Ancelotti has indicated that Everton are free to spend in the summer transfer window without needing to sell players first.

The Blues have often found in the past that their transfer plans are closely tied to their seasonal outgoings, with the club often needing to shift players off the wage bill and raise transfer funds before seeking further additions.

Both Ancelotti and Director of Football Marcel Brands have been upfront about Everton’s need to strengthen this summer, as the Toffees seek to break into the Premier League’s top four.

Ancelotti has however revealed that Everton are not required to make sales this summer before they can invest in new signings, amid speculation that the club could be forced to contend with financial fair play regulations.

When speaking about the Premier’s League need to punish the six clubs who pushed for the European Super League, as reported by the Guardian, Ancelotti said: “The Premier League has to solve different problems than the financial fair play of Everton.

“For the fact that six teams wanted to go in the Super League, first of all they have to take care of this and then, maybe, they can have a look at Everton. But we are going to look at ourselves.

“If they looked at us, with the problem they had with the top six that wanted to join the Super League, that would be funny.

“Of course we will take care of our financial aspect but we can buy without selling players this summer for sure. We’re all agreed on the plan we have to improve the squad and there is no doubt we are totally focused on this.

“We are totally agreed, from the manager, the club and the technical director, Marcel Brands.”

Great to hear

It’s great news for Everton supporters that the club don’t need to sell before they can buy, because that problem has often seen the club hamstrung in the past.

Moise Kean is expected to leave Everton once he returns to Goodison Park this summer and it would have been disappointing to learn that the club’s transfer plans hinged on his exit, but thankfully we now know that this definitely isn’t the case.

Everton’s financial freedom in the transfer market implies that the club are able to conduct business early this summer, which is certainly positive news as the Toffees have all too often left it late to make their mark in the summer window.

Ancelotti has ambition to lead Everton into the top four and that is certainly something that Farhad Moshiri is hoping for too, so the sooner that the Blues can bring the talent that they require to Goodison Park the better stead the club will stand in moving forward.

Sales will boost Everton’s finances too, but it’s extremely positive to know that the club aren’t reliant upon those sales.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are reportedly willing to shell out £21m for 24y/o defender open to Everton switch.
