Ellis Simms is attracting Championship interest due to fine form at Blackpool
Everton striker Ellis Simms is attracting interest from Championship clubs according to The Athletic.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Blackpool and he has impressed for the League One club, scoring eight goals in 21 games to help them into the play-offs.
His fine form is believed to have sparked attention from teams in the next level above, and it would be the logical next step for the youngster to take.
Simms has also produced goals for Everton Under-23s this term, scoring eight in 12 games, so he could be ready to test himself higher up the football pyramid.
Future star?
Simms has certainly shown a goalscoring touch at Blackpool and it is encouraging to see him do so well.
He has not only added goals but also become an integral part of the team, replacing experienced professional Gary Madine in the starting line up.
That should do wonders for his belief, as it shows he is well regarded as a striker and is ready to compete at senior level.
Also, Simms should be feeling confident due to his form and hopefully he takes that into his next loan move.
It would be good to see him test himself at Championship level, as it is a top-quality division and ideal for the next stage of his development.
Evertonians such as Michael Keane and Mason Holgate benefitted from playing at that level, and Simms would likely learn a lot too.
We hope Carlo Ancelotti is keeping an eye on his development and considering the young attacker for a future first-team role.
