Report: Everton could sign Olsen permanently for £4.5m
AS Roma have reportedly set a £4.5m price tag for goalkeeper Robin Olsen who is currently out on loan at Everton.
According to Il Romanista, new Roma manager Jose Mourinho is keen on offloading the goalkeeper in the summer, with the club offering him at a bargain price.
Olsen, who has impressed Ancelotti on loan, has a contract until the summer of 2023 at the Stadio Olimpico, but is unlikely to feature again for the Italian side.
This would’ve come as welcome news for the player, who has also spoken about the intentions to stay put at Goodison Park beyond the summer.
He said, per the club’s official website, “We want to stay, but it is not me who decides,’ he said.
“I can only cross my fingers and see what the club says. As a family, we have moved around and feel we are in a good place now.
“We are very happy, so why not stay until it is time to move home to Sweden? That is what we would choose.”
Sign him up
We’ve known since he joined on loan that Roma did not want him at the club, but there were some doubts about it when Mourinho was hired.
However, now it seems like the Portuguese doesn’t want him either and we’re likely to get the deal done for a fee in the region of £4.5m which is a bargain for a quality keeper like Olsen.
He’s done well to keep Jordan Pickford on his toes, and in his absence has taken his position between the sticks and done exceptionally well.
Per the Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti has made it known that he wants him to sign beyond the end of the season.
He said, “He is a fantastic guy and a really good goalkeeper. We like having him at Everton and hope this can continue.”
We need to get this deal done soon so we can focus on strengthening in other positions as well.
