Everton have expressed interest in Leverkusen winger Diaby

Everton have expressed their interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a new report.

The Toffees are known to be after a winger this summer as they look to bolster their squad, with limited options out wide as things stand.

21-year old Diaby has scored ten goals in all competitions for the Leverkusen this season while also registering 15 assists, and that goal contribution return will have caught the eye of the Blues.

According to Foot Mercato, Everton have been left impressed by Diaby this season and have expressed their interest to the player’s representatives.

The Blues are said to be keen to know Diaby’s intentions for next season, with the former France youth international attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

Everton have been monitoring Diaby’s progress this season and the club’s scouts have given more than positive reports, though Carlo Ancelotti could struggle to convince Leverkusen to sell with the player contract until 2025.

Solid option

It isn’t just that Everton need another winger to bolster their options this summer, it’s that Everton need a winger that possess quality, potential and genuine ability to create goalscoring opportunities.

It has been a long time since Everton possessed a wide player who truly proved to be an offensive asset. Richarlison has often played that role but he has always been inconsistent, while Steven Pienaar was perhaps the club’s last truly effective offensive wide man.

Described by his Leverkusen teammate Kerem Demirbay as a “very clever” player, Diaby is pacey, prolific and at just 21-years old he has bags of potential that the Toffees could look to tap into – he’s essentially the perfect player to bring to Goodison Park as Ancelotti continues to build his project on Merseyside.

The primary sticking point for the Blues could come down to how much money it might take for the club to convince Leverkusen to sell, with the Frenchman considered to be a promising talent at the Bay Arena.
