Juventus suffer potential blow in pursuit of Everton forward Kean
Juventus could suffer a major blow in their pursuit of Everton forward Moise Kean, according to a fresh report from Italy.
The Serie A giants are said to be keen on bringing the Toffees striker, who has impressed during a season-long loan with Paris Saint-Germain this season, back to Turin when the summer transfer window opens.
With Juventus currently outside of the qualifying spots for the Champions League, Tuttosport claimed earlier this week that the club harbour concerns that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave in the summer, not content with Europa League football.
Kean was named as someone who Juventus could consider bringing to the Allianz Stadium to partially replace Ronaldo, with the Italy international still likely to come due to his love for the club, with the lack of Champions League football not a concern.
However Tuttosport now report that doubt has been cast over whether Kean would be willing to return unless Juventus reach the top four, with the forward having played regularly in Europe’s premier competition for PSG this season.
PSG are also interested in signing Kean permanently this summer and it is believed that the Italian would be intrigued by a return to his former club, but only if they offer him the same calibre of competition as he would be promised in the French capital.
Everton don’t seem to harbour much chance of keeping Kean when he returns to Goodison Park this summer, although Carlo Ancelotti still very much considers him to be an Everton player.
Likely move
From the perspective of Moise Kean, it always made more sense to lean towards PSG.
Not only can the Parisians offer him Champions League football but they are also the side that showed faith in his abilities last summer when others might have turned their nose up at the prospect of signing him on a loan deal with no permanent option.
Kean wasn’t pulling up any trees at Everton last season, having managed just a single goal for the Blues in the Premier League, and though he has been tipped for greatness in the past he wasn’t able to show that at Goodison Park.
Whether Kean goes to Paris or to Turin this summer, Everton should be set to earn a significant profit either way. The Toffees would have preferred to see the “courageous” talent prosper on Merseyside, but they’ll gladly settle for a substantial increase on what they paid Juventus for him in 2019.
