Kieran Trippier is on Everton’s radar this summer

Atletico Madrid and England defender Kieran Trippier is on the radar of Everton, according to The Athletic.

Manchester United, who were linked with the 30-year-old in January, are also believed to be interested, along with PSG.

But Trippier reportedly wants to move back to England, and therefore Everton could be well-placed to get him if they decide to act on their interest.

Get him in

Everton are in urgent need of a right-back this summer and Trippier ticks a lot of boxes.

He is an England international and would add European experience and a winning mentality to the squad.

Trippier has often been criticised for his defending in the past but Diego Simeone has improve that area of his game, with the full-back recording 2.1 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game this season, per WhoScored.

His crossing is brilliant and he would be perfect for Dominic Calvert-Lewin from open play or at set-pieces, just as Lucas Digne is at left-back.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a big fan of Trippier, per Area Napoli, who report that the Italian wanted to sign him when manager of Napoli.

Emile Heskey is also an admirer, describing him as ‘phenomenal’ in 2019 [Sky Sports via HITC] and it seems Trippier has not lost his touch.

Last November he helped to keep Lionel Messi quiet as Atletico beat Barcelona 1-0.

The full-back made one tackle and two interceptions in that match [WhoScored], stopping the likes of Messi and Antoine Griezmann from finding a way through.

Trippier would be an upgrade on Coleman, therefore, and with one year left on his deal he could be available at a bargain price.
