Fabrizio Romano: Moise Kean move from Everton to PSG could depend on Mauro Icardi

Everton are open to selling Moise Kean but PSG will have to stump up at least £38.8million for the Italian forward, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The respected journalist was asked about the future of the 21-year-old on the ‘Here We Go’ podcast [19/05/21] as he gears up for his final two fixtures of his loan spell with the capital club.

It appears negotiations are proving complex with another PSG player potentially playing a major role in any deal to bring Kean back on a permanent transfer, but an ‘amazing’ relationship between the French giants and his agent could aid matters.

“The situation is related to what happens with Mauro Icardi because maybe PSG has to decide about him,” Romano said.

“PSG want to keep Kean and he wants to stay at PSG so they are talking with people close to the player and his agent.

“But the decision with Everton is not easy about the fee.

“Everton are open to sell the player so they are 100% open to negotiate and find an agreement, but they want around €45-50million Euros [£38.8-43.1million].

“So let’s see if PSG find an agreement with Everton.

“But they want Kean, the player is 100% happy in Paris and they have an amazing relationship with Mino Raiola [Kean’s agent]. Kean is one of their priorities after Julian Draxler extending his contract.”

Lower, lower…

The minimum fee mooted by Romano here is less than the sum he mentioned last month.

He wrote on his personal Twitter profile in April that negotiations would start at around £43million, which is nearly £5million more than he is now reporting.

It was only a month ago but Kean’s stock may have fallen in Paris slightly.

Since Romano tweeted that news the striker has scored just once in seven games while he was rooted to the bench for two consecutive fixtures in April.

He still has 13 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances for the reigning French champions but the Blues may have to accept slightly less than they were first demanding.

Meanwhile, fellow forward Icardi scored five goals in three games during a prolific run in April and that could affect negotiations.

If he stays then PSG could find it tough to fork out the fee Everton want.

What seems clear though, is that Kean is increasingly likely to bring an end to his Blues career this summer, one that never really took off after a big move from Juventus in 2019.
