Juventus are considering a move for Carlo Ancelotti

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is being examined by Juventus as a potential replacement for club legend Andrea Pirlo, report Calcio Mercato.

The Turin club is also considering a move for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, but he could take a sabbatical if he leaves Los Blancos, which looks likely currently.

Ancelotti has managed Juventus before, for two years between 1999-2001, and finished runner-up in Serie A in both seasons.

The Italian recently spoke of his desire to stay at Everton for a number of years, so it will be interesting to see if he can be enticed to the Old Lady.

Cannot afford to lose him

Landing Ancelotti was a huge coup in January 2020 and although the season has tailed off this year, we must do everything we can to keep him.

He has already transformed players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane, and there have been improvements in his 16 months in charge.

Our transfer recruitment has also gone up a notch and though Marcelo Brands deserve credit for signing Ben Godfrey, it was likely Ancelotti who persuaded James Rodriguez and Allan to join, with the latter describing him as a “fantastic” manager [Daily Mail].

If we want to continue improving then we need more big-name players like that pair.

Our best chance of doing that is to keep Ancelotti, so we must not let Juventus make an approach.

If they do make him a formal offer it could be difficult to keep Ancelotti, but Farhad Moshiri must grant every demand he makes and give him a big wage increase.

We will have to hope the billionaire-owned club turn away from the idea of appointing the 61-year-old.
