Ancelotti to discuss future of Everton trio after Man City clash

Carlo Ancelotti has explained that Marcel Brands and himself are set to discuss the respective futures of a trio of senior Everton stars early next week.

The Blues are preparing to face their final game of the season against Manchester City on Sunday, where any chance of potentially qualifying for Europe this season hangs in the balance.

Ancelotti currently has full focus on the game at the Etihad, however he has revealed that he will turn his attention to his squad after the game, specifically to resolve the futures of Josh King, Robin Olsen and Seamus Coleman.

King is set to see his short-term Everton deal expire this summer and though he has still yet to start for the club it remains to be seen whether Ancelotti will opt to keep him at Goodison Park for the upcoming campaign.

Ancelotti hasn’t hidden his desire to sign Olsen permanently following the end of his loan spell from Roma, while Coleman’s contract expires next year and the Italian seeks an extension for the Everton captain.

Speaking about his plans to hold talks with Brands, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti said: “We have some positions to consider – Josh, Robin Olsen – and other players like Seamus who we would like to renew the contract.

“With Marcel Brand after the end of the season on Monday or Tuesday we are going to talk about all these kinds of situations.”

Important decisions

Ancelotti has plenty of important decisions to make this summer as Everton continue to grow under his tenure, and two of the aforementioned names should be at the forefront of his decision making.

King has yet to really be given a chance to impress by Ancelotti which could suggest that he has failed to cut it in training, however supporters haven’t been able to really see what he can do.

Olsen meanwhile has demonstrated ability whenever chosen to play and in him Everton have found a more than acceptable deputy to Jordan Pickford, though it remains to be seen whether the Swede would be interested in the move.

Coleman’s future isn’t exactly a crucial piece of business that needs ironing out this summer, though the club would obviously benefit both on and off the pitch if the Italian could have him extend his current contract.

Ideally we’d like to see King stay at Goodison Park ahead of an important campaign next season, while Olsen would also be valued permanent addition. However ultimately it comes down to the decision making of Ancelotti and Brands, and we hope they make the right calls.
