Everton bid for Valencia and Portugal forward Goncalo Guedes

Everton have made a bid to sign Valencia and Portugal forward Goncalo Guedes, according to Plaza Radio.

As relayed on the Plaza Deportivo website, it’s been reported that the Blues have joined a list of clubs who are in the hunt to sign the 24-year-old, who ended the La Liga season in “exceptional” form.

It is understood that cash-strapped Valencia need to sell Guedes in the summer but former club Paris Saint-Germain are due 15 to 20 per cent of the fee for his next move.

Due to that, Valencia must sell Guedes for £21.6million in order to make a profit.

However, it’s suggested that Valencia’s financial crisis means they may be forced into making a loss on the 22-times Portugual international.

No-brainer?

Guedes has enjoyed a strong end to the season with Valencia.

In the end, he finished the 2020/21 La Liga campaign with five goals and six assists in 31 appearances. Since March, he’s scored four times and assisted five goals in 13 fixtures.

Guedes is a man in form and due to Valencia’s financial situation, he could be an affordable target for Everton.

It may also help the Toffees that Guedes is a client of superagent Jorge Mendes, who also works for James Rodriguez [transfermarkt].

While Rodriguez isn’t in the good books of Everton fans at the moment, there’s no denying that kind of link could help the Blues sign Guedes if a good word is put in.

We’re in the thinking that Guedes would be a welcome addition at Goodison Park.

He can play in a number of attacking positions as this term, he’s played as a centre-forward, a left-winger and an attacking midfielder at the Mestalla.

Everton’s season fizzled out in disappointing style this term but with Guedes it was the total opposite.

Maybe he’s someone who can shine for us in the latter stages of next season in the Premier League.

In other Everton news, a pundit has backed the Blues to sign this “incredible” nine-goal attacker.
