Everton want Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha wants to leave Selhurst Park this summer and Everton are readying a swoop to sign him, according to Goal.

The 28-year-old is also attracting Tottenham Hotspur, but Palace are not particularly keen on losing their talisman.

Zaha has recently admitted in an interview with The Face that he is ready to leave Selhurst Park if the opportunity to join a “top” club arises this summer, and Everton will hope to be second time lucky.

Goal claims the Toffees were interested in bringing the attacker to Goodison Park in the summer of 2019, tabling two formal offers for him. The second was worth £70 million, with Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy also included as makeweights.

However, the Eagles knocked it back, and Everton ended up bringing in Alex Iwobi from Arsenal on transfer deadline day instead.

They remain admirers of the skilful winger and do believe they may be able to get a deal done at a significantly lower price this summer.

It is now understood that Palace could part ways with him should suitors bring around £40million to the negotiations table, and they know this could be the best time to cash in on him.

With only two years left on his current contract, Zaha is not looking to sign an extension and is likely to be worth way below his current valuation next summer.

Everton finished the 2020/21 Premier League campaign in 10th place, with their dismal form at Goodison Park proving costly.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men won just six games at home, losing nine. They won 11 times on the road, losing just four games and they have to land a top forward if they want to start playing European football anytime soon.

Zaha ended the campaign with 11 goals and two assists in 30 Premier League games, and Everton could do with such an attacker.

The former Manchester United man has 47 goals and 25 assists in 231 top-flight games for Palace and having him alongside Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the attack would surely boost the Toffees’ top-six chances next term and going forward.

Everton majority shareholder and owner Farhad Moshiri is likely to bring his chequebook out again this summer in order to help fulfil his side’s ambitions, and they should not hesitate to pull out all the stops in their pursuit of Zaha.

In other Everton news, a pundit has backed the Blues to sign this “incredible” nine-goal attacker.
