Everton offer Nathan Broadbent new contract

Everton have offered a new contract to attacking sensation Nathan Broadhead, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It has been reported on their website that the 23-year-old has been handed the chance to pen a two-year deal at Goodison Park.

Talks are currently underway between the two parties, with no clear suggestion with how they will finish up over the next couple of weeks.

Broadhead made his Premier League under Carlo Ancelotti and has clearly impressed the Italian over the past season in Merseyside.

The “sparkling” sensation came off the bench in the Premier League clash with Brighton towards the end of the season, after catching the eye with the under-23s.

The striker managed to score 11 goals in his 18 Premier League 2 appearances, delivering three assists along the way.

What next?

Broadhead is likely to be sent out on loan next season, having impressed away from the club at Burton Albion previously.

It would be unlikely that he would be left with the under-23s, and would either move or become a permanent fixture in the Premier League first-team squad.

That appears even more unlikely.

Player shining with the under-23s are usually in their teenage years, and once this deal is concluded, signed or not, Broadhead will be 25-years-old.

That is a big commitment to make to a player who has no clear route to the first-team with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both guaranteed to start.

Broadhead would want guarantees given his age and lack of senior experience, and this could be a name we get used to seeing on the bench next season, get ready.
