Joe Anderson on verge of signing new Everton contract

Joe Anderson is set to snub interest from the Championship to sign a new contract with Everton, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Anderson’s existing deal is due to expire in the summer and that has led to a host of second-tier clubs lining up to sign him.

However, it is understood that the 20-year-old will stay at Goodison Park for at least another year after the Blues offered him a one-year contract extension.

Seize the opportunity

Anderson now has a massive chance.

He’s essentially been offered an extra 12 month by the Toffees, which essentially says, ‘show us what you’ve got’.

Anderson is a left-footed centre-back who the Liverpool Echo reports has already been called up to train with the Everton first team on numerous occasions by Carlo Ancelotti.

As he’s been attracting attention from the Championship, it’s clear that Anderson has something about him, especially as he’s never had a loan spell away from Goodison Park.

This season, the defender played 20 times in Premier League 2 for Everton’s Under-23s as they finished fifth in Division 1.

Anderson scored one goal and supplied three assists in those matches as he played as a centre-back and sometimes as a left-back.

His versatility is a good thing, as is the fact that he’s left-footed.

That could bode him will in the future but does he have a future at Goodison Park?

Anderson clearly has one more year to impress but we’ll probably see him move on next year.

It’s a shame he’s never been loaned out, really.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are bidding to sign this “exceptional” ace from a cash-strapped club.
