Bent believes Everton won’t turn down sizeable Calvert-Lewin offer

Former Everton forward Marcus Bent doesn’t believe that the club would be able to turn down a sizeable offer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.

The 24-year old striker thrived under Carlo Ancelotti last season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions and becoming the Blues’ biggest goal-threat.

Calvert-Lewin has not expressed a desire to leave Everton but Mirror Sport have thrown his name into the mix when discussing potential replacements at Tottenham should Harry Kane leave the club.

Speaking to Football FanCast, Bent believes that should Everton receive an offer in the region of £80million for Calvert-Lewin then they wouldn’t be able to turn it down.

Bent said: “Speaking to the club, his game’s come on leaps and bounds since the start of the season.

“If they can keep him, they can keep him. But turning down £80million, I think for any club to turn £80million is hard, to be honest, especially Everton.”

Not likely

Dominic Calvert-Lewin shouldn’t be available for any price this summer as Everton look to build a team around the forward, though understandably every player has a price tag.

However no Everton supporters should fret because we feel that it’s extremely unlikely that Calvert-Lewin would generate such significant interest.

The Toffees striker performed marvellously last season but it was his first campaign as a regular goalscoring forward and not many clubs would be willing to shell out without more top level experience under his belt.

If Calvert-Lewin performs well at the Euros and then enjoys another prosperous season on Merseyside, then Everton could see him attract significant interest.

However at this moment in time it’s likely that many clubs are keeping a watchful eye on Calvert-Lewin’s progress, though they won’t yet move for the forward.

Calvert-Lewin was excellent last season and everything good Everton did ran through him, and hopefully we’ll see more of that when the season kicks off later this summer.

In other Everton news, this left-footed Toffees ace is on the verge of a major decision as clubs line up to sign him.
