Everton target Demiral expected to leave Juventus this summer
Reported Everton target Merih Demiral intends to leave Juventus this summer in search of more regular football, according to a new report.
The Blues have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Turkey international over the past few months, with Carlo Ancelotti said to be interested in signing a centre-back this summer.
Trusted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano backed up that claim on Twitter earlier this month, though he denied that the club held interest in Demiral.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Demiral could be subject to ‘good offers’ from abroad this summer, with the 23-year old wanting a move to a club that would feature him more prominently.
Gazzetta claim that Juve have rejected requests to sign the defender in recent times but that could now be set to change, with Demiral having a valuation of £25.7million (€30million).
Interesting development
Having been described as a “natural leader” and likened to former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, Demiral has been tipped for great things over the course of his career.
He has found it difficult to break through at Juventus though, an elite team with an experienced backline full of quality and depth.
Though Everton also have depth in the centre-back position they aren’t so flush with talent, with numerous reports speculating that the club have an interest in bolstering their options in that position this summer.
At just 23-years old, Demiral fits the profile of the type of player that Marcel Brands is interested in pursuing this summer, while he would bring with him much desired Champions League experience.
However it remains to be seen whether Everton are truly interested in the defender, with Romano’s sources contradicting plenty of reports to have come out of Italy.
Everton are undeniably in the market to strengthen this summer and we’ll simply have to wait and see which areas of the pitch that Carlo Ancelotti prioritises.
In other Everton news, this left-footed Toffees ace is on the verge of a major decision as clubs line up to sign him.
