Everton likely to target Eddie Howe as Carlo Ancelotti set for exit – report
Everton are likely to target Eddie Howe once again with Carlo Ancelotti set to leave Goodison Park, according to the Telegraph.
The Italian has been linked with a shock move back to Real Madrid on Tuesday, with Marca reporting he could leave in a matter of hours.
That would leave Farhad Moshiri looking for yet another manager, with Nuno Espirito Santo also linked with the Merseyside post.
Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth over one year ago.
There were strong rumours that he would join Celtic after their embarrassing year in Scotland, but they collapsed last week.
The former Bournemouth man has been interviewed by the Toffees previously and could be set for his second grilling from the board this month.
Although there is no perfect time, at least this may happen at a time that will give a new potential manager a full transfer window and pre-season.
Theories.
An Everton fan on Twitter has suggested that Howe had his eyes on Goodison Park when negotiating with Celtic this week.
They believe that Howe learned of Ancelotti’s impending move to Real Madrid, increased his wage demands, which ultimately saw the move collapse.
That leaves the door wide open for him to step in to replace the Italian.
It doesn’t seem far-fetched, especially given the previous interest from both parties in the job that could become available at any given moment.
Going from Ancelotti to Howe may seem like a downgrade, but given his monster wages, it could see the club go down a different path; let’s just hope it doesn’t end how his stint at Bournemouth did.
