Fabrizio Romano: Ancelotti will join Real Madrid, Everton termination agreed

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti will leave the club to join Real Madrid very soon, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports journalist has reported that the Italian has agreed to terminate his current deal at Goodison Park, and will move to his former club.

Real Madrid have been without a manager since Zinedine Zidane left at the end of the last season where he failed in La Liga and the Champions League.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano all-but-confirmed that the move will be announced very soon, possibly today.

“Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, here we go,” he wrote.

“The agreement on the termination of his contract with Everton is set to be completed, the two clubs are in direct contact then Carlo will re-join Real Madrid.

“Expected to be official soon.”

Goodbye.

It was a shocking end to the Premier League season, but we have to admit our sadness at this news as there was a clear sense of a project.

Ancelotti helped attract players such as James Rodriguez to Goodison Park after working with him before, and it is hard to see where this leaves us.

Should someone such as Eddie Howe arrive, although he is a good manager, he doesn’t have that attraction that the likes of Ancelotti do.

We wish him well for the future, but we just hope that we have rinsed every last penny out of Madrid in compensation as they look set to get their man.

The Toffees have to be smart with this next decision.
