Simon Jordan rules out Antonio Conte joining Everton
TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan does not see former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte taking over at Everton.
The Toffees didn’t look like they’ll be needing a manager as they were going into next season with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm.
However, in the last 24 hours news emerged that Real Madrid are interested in him filling the managerial position at the club, and now Fabrizio Romano has reporting that it will be happening.
There have been a number of managers now linked to the vacant Everton position with David Moyes, Nuno Espirito Santo and Eddie Howe being the names thrown in the mix. [The Times]
One name that hasn’t been extensively mentioned, but has been brought up in few conversations is that of Conte.
The former Premier League winner with Chelsea was being talked about on talkSPORT where Jordan ruled out him moving to Goodison Park this summer.
He said, “No chance. With respect to Conte, he’s a serial winner – why would he need to take a project?
“Is he philanthropic? What’s he going to say? I really like Moses, I’ll go to Everton and spin my wheels over there?
“He causes chaos everywhere, but he wins. What’s he going to go to Everton for?”
Dream appointment
Given the managers we’ve been linked with, Conte would be a dream appointment.
That said, we would’ve made the same argument for Carlo Ancelotti a few seasons back, but with the right money, anything is possible.
If the club could promise Conte that they’ll back him this summer and give him a larger say in transfers, he could be tempted to take over the job.
It’s not like we don’t have a good side to challenge for the top six and eventually the top four. With Conte, we’ll be able to attract higher calibre of players and who knows where that can take us.
