Everton were rocked by the exit of Carlo Ancelotti on Tuesday evening as he left to rejoin former club Real Madrid.
The Toffees have already started the replacement process, with numerous names being linked with the vacant role at Goodison Park.
Perhaps most shocking, the Athletic has linked Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard with the post after his success with Rangers.
Having taken over at Ibrox three years ago, Gerrard has brought back the good times.
Rangers finished the Scottish Premiership season unbeaten, and also took his side to the quarter-finals of the Europa League before crashing out against Slavia Praha.
Gerrard has consistently been linked with a return to Merseyside, but always to replace Jurgen Klopp when he leaves Anfield, something that is expected not so far into the future.
Despite that success, it is hard to see Farhad Moshiri being that bold in his selection that could cause outrage all across Merseyside, not just the blue half.
Other names such as Nuno Espirito Santo, Eddie Howe and Rafa Benitez have been thrown into the mix, and it appears as though one of them would be the safer option.
We asked our esteemed panel of Super Fans over on Facebook if they would accept Gerrard should he decide to take the job.
It was safe to say that the rivalry is still alive and kicking, as it appeared as though the message was anyone but him.
