Danny Mills believes Everton must consider Steven Gerrard
Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills believes Everton must consider Steven Gerrard as their new manager despite the fact he is a Liverpool legend.
The former Liverpool midfielder has achieved success at Rangers – guiding them to an invincible league season and their first title win in a decade.
His stock is unsurprisingly on the high, and with Everton having a managerial vacancy, his name has been thrown in the mix.
Discussing the Everton managerial situation on talkSPORT, Mills said, “I think they have to consider him [Gerrard]. Whether he would take it, is another matter.
“He’s done a fantastic job at Rangers. He’s an up-and-coming manager. His family are on Merseyside and I believe a lot of his coaches are Merseyside based.
“I think it would be a fantastic opportunity if he was offered to go to a club that is on the rise. Stranger things have happened in football and I’m sure Gerrard will look at it as a great opportunity if he was offered.”
Not going to happen
The things people say to drum up clicks and views these days are embarrassing. There is no way we can even consider the possibility of getting one of Liverpool’s modern-day legends.
Even if something went massively wrong and we did mull over the possibility of getting him, he would probably turn us down as he has aspirations of managing Liverpool in the future.
While he’s done a good job at Rangers, he’s still unproven in the Premier League, and we need a manager with the ability to help this club take the next level.
We have previously backed our managers and the reason Carlo Ancelotti was tempted was that he was sold on the idea that this club has the potential to go on to do great things.

Per the Liverpool Echo, over 40 managers have applied for the role and Marcel Brands will be going through the applicants before conducting a formal interview process.
