Farhad Moshiri contacts Nuno as Everton hunt down ex-Wolves boss
Farhad Moshiri has personally contacted Nuno Espirito Santo as the Everton majority shareholder aims to hire the ex-Wolves boss, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that talks have been held about a move to appointed Nuno as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor after the Italian quit Goodison Park to return to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in Nuno and have held talks with the Portuguese manager, who left Wolves at the end of the Premier League season despite doing an impressive overall job in the West Midlands.
Moshiri knows what he wants
It remains to be seen who Bill Kenwright would like to see in charge at Goodison Park but there has been some friction between the majority shareholder and the Blues chairman in the past.
As reported by Sky Sports in November 2017, Moshiri wanted Diego Simeone to replace Marco Silva while Kenwright was more interested in David Unsworth.
Eventually, the Blues opted for Sam Allardyce, a man who Steve Walsh pushed to hire.
Moshiri, Kenwright and Marcel Brands need to all be on the same page in the hunt for their new manager because it’s a massive appointment.
We cannot have the three chiefs pulling in different directions and based on the work Nuno has done in the Premier League and in Europe with Wolves, he seems like a clever appointment.
Last month, after he took charge of Wolves for the final time, ex-Everton star Gary Lineker paid tribute to the “fabulous job” Nuno did at Molineux [Match of the Day].
Let’s hope his next fabulous job is on Merseyside with the Toffees.
