Alan Myers names Christophe Galtier in Everton manager poll

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has named former Lille manager Christophe Galtier in a poll about who Everton fans want to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Galtier, 54, led Lille to the Ligue 1 title this season but resigned from the job just two days later.

We’ve seen a lot of names linked with the Everton job since Ancelotti’s shock exit with Rafa Benitez, Roberto Martinez and Eddie Howe among them.

Myers named those three in a poll about who Evertonians want in the Goodison Park hot seat next season but he also dropped in Galtier.

An exciting choice

Galtier’s inclusion in that poll has clearly pricked the ears of Everton fans, who have so far voted him as their favourite to land the job at Goodison.

At the time of writing, Galter has 41.7 per cent of the vote, with ex-Liverpool boss Benitez in second with 37.1 per cent and Martinez third with 15.2 per cent.

Howe’s clearly struggling to win over the support of Everton fans at this stage but it’s pretty obvious as to why Galtier is the favourite among the fanbase.

What he pulled off at Lille last season wasn’t on a Leicester-level of miraculous but it was definitely a shock.

Paris Saint-Germain are always going to be massive favourites to win that league but for Lille to go out and do it, after selling a few big-name players in recent years, was a huge achievement for Galtier.

The Marseille-born boss won the Ligue 1 manager of the year award for the third time in his career having previously won it at Saint-Etienne and previously at Lille.

As per French football expert Adam White on the Guardian website, Galtier is a master at solving problems and also coaching younger players.

We’d love that and as he’s available, it would surely be a no-brainer to make a move as soon as possible.

In other Everton news, a journalist has made a massive claim about Kia Joorabchian’s involvement in the hunt for a new boss.
