Everton have not made approach for Graham Potter

Everton have not made any kind of approach to hire Brighton’s Graham Potter as their next manager, according to The Argus.

The Brighton newspaper reports that they’ve been told “in the last hour” that “there is no truth in suggestions they have made an approach for his services”.

The Athletic has reported that Marcel Brands is a fan of 46-year-old Potter while rumours have emerged on social media suggesting a move has been made by a fake account posing as Sky Sports’ Alan Myers.

However, those rumours have been put to bed by The Argus, who add that Brighton are “likely to be comfortable about the future of their head coach”.

Be careful

It’s that time of year again where sad people take to Twitter, change their account name and profile picture and pose as reliable journalists.

This time, Myers’ account has been copied and that user then shared a tweet suggesting that talks are underway with Potter.

That simply isn’t the case.

While it may look legit at first glance, always check the account. How many followers do they have? Can you link the account to a newspaper or a trustworthy website? Or is it just a random ‘ITK’ account or social media troll just trying to get likes and retweets?

In this case, someone clearly has nothing better to do with their time than pretend to be Myers.

Don’t fall for it Evertonians and if you see accounts like that, just block them or even report them.

There has been a lot of speculation about who could be our next manager and while the Potter links are fresh, we think that it’s something that could develop a bit more in the coming days.

In other Everton news, a journalist has made a massive claim about Kia Joorabchian’s involvement in the hunt for a new boss.
