Nuno set to be announced by Crystal Palace despite Everton offer – The Telegraph
Everton are set to miss out on the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo, according to the Telegraph.
It has been reported that Crystal Palace have made their move quickly this week, and look set to announce him at Selhurst Park this week.
According to reports, both the Toffees and the Eagles had both offered the role to the 47-year-old, but the latter appears to have won the race.
Nuno has progressed with talks at Crystal Palace, although there is little mention of Everton and their pursuit too.
Farhad Moshiri was said to be pushing for the Portuguese gaffer to take charge, but the Toffees board all seem to favour different candidates.
How this has been allowed to happen is shocking.
Crystal Palace have released half of their senior squad members this summer, and they will need a huge rebuild after letting go of Roy Hodgson too.
It is becoming clearer by the day that the board weren’t ready for Carlo Ancelotti jumping ship to Real Madrid, and it has left us in a terrible situation.
Next.
It doesn’t even surprise us that despite their lower position, Palace look likely to win this race for Nuno over the summer.
There is never any urgency to get a deal over the line, especially when it is to secure a world-class manager such as the former Wolves man.
The Athletic have reported numerous names that are linked to the club, with Brighton’s Graham Potter the latest, one that Marcel Brands appears to favour.
Is that the way the Toffees will go now?
One thing they will learn from this disappointment will be that they need to act quicker and make sure that they secure the next man tipped as the number one target.
