Report: Everton offer Nuno manager role, Maxi Gomez could be first signing
Everton have made an offer to Nuno Espirito Santo to take charge at Goodison Park, according to Spanish outlet AS.
It is reported on their website that Crystal Palace have done the same, as the races heats up for the former Wolves boss.
Not only that, but the 47-year-old has already identified his first signing no matter where he goes, and that is Valencia forward Maxi Gomez.
It is suggested that Nuno has continued talks throughout this week, as he looks set to replace Carlo Ancelotti in Merseyside.
The Portuguese boss could be disappointed though, with the Spanish club keen to keep hold of their Uruguayan international.
Valencia are said to be disappointed with his current value due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they may be forced to sell due to their disastrous financial situation.
Perfect.
We are crying out for another forward at Goodison Park.
This is one of the key areas where Ancelotti came unstuck, his lack of options in the final third behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and James Rodriguez.
Whenever one of those three were injured or missing from the side, the likes of Bernard and Alex Iwobi just couldn’t deliver what was required to win games, and that was a huge problem.
Gomez has proved at Valencia and Celta Vigo that he can be a real handful and find the back of the net with ease, something that will only benefit the Toffees.
The 24-year-old only scored seven times in 31 appearances last season, but he did hit 30 goals in his final two campaigns at Celta Vigo.
Gomez certainly has potential, and if you look at how Nuno got the likes of Raul Jiminez firing at Molineux, this could be a very exciting double appointment in Merseyside.
