The Athletic: Everton now considering Graham Potter, Marcel Brands is big fan

Everton are now considering Brighton manager Graham Potter for the Goodison Park vacancy, according to The Athletic.

It is reported that a list of over 40 names is finally starting to be whittled down after Carlo Ancelotti shocked the board by leaving for Real Madrid.

Nearly every name you can think of has been linked with the Toffees, but it appears as though senior figures at the club can’t agree to just one.

Greg O’Keeffe and Patrick Boyland have reported on Tuesday morning that Everton are yet to say no to Potter, who has impressed at Brighton in recent years.

It appears to be Marcel Brands who is pushing hardest for this one though, with everyone pulling together to find the right candidate.

“The highly-regarded Brighton & Hove Albion head coach, Graham Potter, is someone none of them have disregarded, although Brands, it is believed, particularly rates the former Swansea City boss,” they wrote.

Smart move.

Although it isn’t the huge name appointment that many would have been hoping for after Ancelotti, Potter has certainly proven himself in recent years.

Despite not spending millions at the AMEX, he has his side playing some of the most attractive football in the Premier League.

Our transfer policy has been nothing short of weak in recent years, with last season the only positive in many windows, and this is somewhere that Potter thrives.

If appointed, he could bring his scouting team from Brighton and unearth some well-known gems in England and throughout Europe, as he has with the likes of Leandro Trossard.

We would like to think that a new manager will be through the door before the end of EUROs, and that would give them enough time to prepare with a full pre-season.

Will it Potter? It will if Brands has his way.
