Jorge Mendes in meeting over Everton-linked AC Milan star Rafael Leao

Jorge Mendes has held a meeting at a hotel in Milan over the future of Everton-linked striker Rafael Leao, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian news outlet reports that Everton and Wolves are interested in signing the 22-year-old, while Ligue 1 side Marseille are described as a team to keep an eye on.

It is understood that Leao “could unexpectedly change his [club] in the next few days” with his agent Mendes warning AC Milan technical director Paolo Malindi offers are set to be made for him.

Nuno + Mendes = Leao?

It’s been widely reported that former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is set to become the next boss at Everton [Fabrizio Romano] and that could hand the Blues the upper hand in any bid to sign Leao.

Nuno was Mendes’ first client as a football agent and the two worked closely with the Chinese ownership at Wolves to sign the likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Pedro Neto, Nelson Semedo, Daniel Podence and Rui Patricio.

It will definitely help Everton to have access to these kinds of players and Leao is certainly someone who we wouldn’t mind seeing head to Goodison Park before the start of next season.

Leao scored seven goals and supplied six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for Milan this season.

While that doesn’t sound too great, Leao was played out wide as well as up front and only started 22 matches in Serie A.

CalcioMercato reports Milan chief Maldini will only consider offers of over £25.7million for Leao.

That isn’t a massive fee and if Nuno arrives then we’d expect one or two of Mendes’ clients to come with him.

Let’s see if Leao is one of them.
