Everton are set to announce Rafa Benitez as their new manager, according to talkSPORT.
The Spaniard and former Liverpool boss is on the brink of being announced at Goodison Park this evening.
Nuno Espirito Santo looked the front runner for the main vacancy, but it appears as though he has missed out.
Reporting on their official Twitter account, talkSPORT shared the major update that is surely set to divide everyone on Merseyside.
“Breaking: Rafa Benitez on the brink of becoming the new manager of Everton – talkSPORT sources understand,” they wrote.
Wow.
It looked nailed on that Nuno would be the new Everton boss this week, but something must have happened behind the scenes.
Benitez has nearly won it all in football, and this has been previously described as one of the shocking appointments in Merseyside history.
The Spaniard shined at places such as Newcastle and got the fans on board, it feels a very long time since someone has been able to do that at Goodison Park.
Transfer news has started heating up over the past 24 hours, and that must be because this news was bubbling in the background and has released Marcel Brands.
We wait for the announcement, but it is hard not to get somewhat excited for this appointment, fingers crossed it works.
