Everton could sign wantaway Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha this summer – View

In an interview with BBC Sport, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted that Everton-linked Wilfried Zaha could leave the club this summer – but only if the right offer is received.

The 28-year-old, in a report by The Times, informed the club of his decision to move on this summer, having been on the cusp of an exit for the past two seasons.

He has reportedly told the representatives at Palace that he wanted his move completed before the squad return for their pre-season training.

When asked about this, Parish said, “We understand his position. It’s no secret that he would like to challenge himself.

“But it has to be right for the football club. He understands that as well.

“If those two things collide then we will have to look at it. But right now, we are two days into the transfer window so it’s a bit early to talk about it.”

According to The Daily Mail, the Toffees are likely to want to sign the player regardless of who the next manager is.

Not this dance again

Two years ago, when we had shown credible interest in signing, but it still wasn’t the right move to go for him.

Demanding £100 million [The Guardian] in 2019 would shatter the British transfer record and he was not even in the top 10 best players in the league to be worth that much.

Even then, Palace’s unrealistic demands put us off and this time around too, as Parish indicated, it isn’t going to be an easy run at the player.

Zaha may be a talented player, but he is 28, injury -prone, and arguably past his prime.

He has been a big fish in a small pond throughout his career and it was proven when he failed to live up to the billing at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old would certainly bring something different to our attack, but the club’s financial position isn’t such that we can spend crazy money on targets we were realistically keen on two seasons ago.
