Everton owner Farhad Moshiri set to hold final round of Rafa Benitez talks
Rafa Benitez is set for one more round of talks with Farhad Moshiri before he is confirmed as the next Everton manager, according to Steve Maddock.
The north-west based journalist, writing in the Mirror, has claimed that Everton owner Moshiri is “driving the appointment” of the Spaniard, despite opposition from director of football Marcel Brands.
The Dutchman is said to be “concerned” about the 61-year-old’s previous issues in working with a football director.

But Moshiri is reported to have met with Benitez on three separate occasions, and a deal has already been “agreed in principle”.
Now all that remains are for the finer details of the contract to be ironed over, and a final meeting between the duo could see confirmation of Benitez becoming Carlo Ancelotti’s successor at Goodison Park.

Air of inevitability
It looks like we will not have to start to come to term with the fact that Benitez will end up becoming our new manager.
When news first broke that we were interested in his services, there was derision from a large section of Blues who couldn’t fathom the thought that we could welcome an ex-Red on board.
Our hunt for Ancelotti’s successor has been nothing short of shameful, but this eventual appointment would really be a knife in the stomach to supporters.
How can Moshiri be so naive to think this is a decision that could be accepted among fans? It’s just downright stupid.
Benitez is on a hiding to nothing. If he starts badly then the pressure will be astronomical and there will be mass protests demanding Moshiri removes him from his post.
Even if he starts well, Blues will be waiting for that one trip up in form to castigate him.
It just makes no sense to bring him in, especially considering he has not even achieved any notable success in recent years.
