Guillem Balague claims Rafa Benitez will not be fazed by Everton boo-boys

Everton are reported to be closing in on the appointment of former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, and the fans are fuming.

The Toffees faithful do not want the Spaniard in the Goodison Park dugout given his Reds connection, but it does not seem Farhad Moshiri cares about that.

Should Benitez become Everton manager, he should not expect a warm welcome from the fans, and BBC’s Spanish football expert Guillem Balague does not believe that would faze him.

Everton

“To those Everton fans that are not sure about Rafa Benitez and need to be convinced, they will be convinced,” the Spanish football expert said on his YouTube channel.

“Those that want to boo him if he gets the job, I must tell you he will not be affected by it.

“He has got very thick skin, having gone to Chelsea for instance and having gone through a lot of experiences in his life.”

Don’t do it Moshiri

Everton would be making the most controversial managerial appointment in their history should they give Benitez the job, and the board should steer clear.

We know that the former Real Madrid boss can bring much-needed experience to the table, but the fans simply do not want him.

He once called the Goodison Park outfit a small club [Independent], and while he has attempted to clarify those comments, insisting he meant to say “small team” [Echo], not a lot of Everton followers care.

Going against the wishes of the fans could end up being a move Farhad regrets.

There are other quality options the club should be going after, and a former Liverpool boss should not be one.

We would love to see a Nuno Espirito Santo, a Graham Potter or a Roberto Martinez appointed instead of such a potentially divisive move.

We have nothing against Benitez, but we just do not think Everton should be doing anything that will trigger the fans.

He could not get the chance to become Chelsea permanent manager despite an impressive interim spell as the fans made their feelings known, and the same could happen at Goodison Park.
